The overall objective of SustainSAHEL is to enhance the resilience and intensification potential of smallholder agricultural farming systems to climate change through scalable innovations on crop-shrub-livestock (CSL) integration (2020-2025).
-
Agroecology and Safe food System Transitions in Southeast Asia (ASSET)
Supporting and promoting territorial approaches to innovation (technical, organisational and institutional changes), in partnership with all stakeholders and learning from them by evaluating their performance and impacts (2020-2025).
-
-
Faced with persisting deforestation and forest degradation in the Amazon, territories are finding innovative solutions based on the coordination and commitment of local actors. They aim to reconcile a sustainable agricultural transition, the conservation and restoration of forest resources and social inclusion. These initiatives open new perspectives for the region.
-
-
The project addresses soil carbon sequestration at three scales: plot, farm and landscape, and combines biophysical and socio-economic aspects. At each sites, long-term trials are also studied: agroforestry systems in France and Senegal, organic matter inputs (quantity and quality) in Kenya, conservation agriculture in Zimbabwe (2019-2023).
-

Increasing and optimizing the ecosystem services provided by biodiversity is one way to achieve agro-ecological intensification of agro-sylvo-pastoral systems and to reduce the impact of pests and diseases thereby improving crop yields. Co-designing innovative agro-ecological technologies can help to identify locally suited solutions for optimizing complementarity and facilitation effects between plant (crop and trees) and livestock components to feed the people (2018-2022).
-
Shrub Forage Banks for African Dairy Farmers
Contribution to the agro-ecological transition of forage systems and the adaptation to climate change of local dairy farms in West Africa (2021)
-
Albedo, Conservation agriCUltuRe and climATe bEnefit (ACCURATE)
The objective of the project is to study the biophysical effects of the different pillars of conservation agriculture (no till, mulch, rotation) and to compare it to the biochemical effects in terms on soil carbon sequestration and greenhouse gases emissions, in order to estimate the global radiative forcing and the climate benefit of this practice. The study will also investigate the interaction with the soil type and the type of crop residues (maize vs cowpea) (2020-2021).
