Remote Sensing, Computing and Applied Mathematics (TIM)

TIM axis provides a space for exchange, monitoring and animation around questions relating to modelling, knowledge engineering, data science, artificial intelligence and space technologies in support of agroecology. It integrates "research" aspects but also more "operational" aspects through a modelling laboratory. The challenge of TIM axis is to bring benefit to the research projects of the Aïda research unit.

Participants:

TIM axis is dedicated to a group of engineers, researchers and technicians from the Aida unit:

  • Computer scientists (S. Auzoux, N. Choty, M. Giner, J-B Laurent, M. Mezino, A. Tendero),
  • Biostatisticians (E.Gozé, P. Letourmy),
  • Specialists in remote sensing/geomatics and spatial modelling (L. Le Mezo, L. Leroux, P. Todoroff, V . Soti),
  • Agro-modellers (M. Christina, R. Loison)

It is open to other reserchers of the unit who would like to participate in the proposed activities or bring forward needs or issues that could be addressed by TIM axis.

Issues:

  • To develop and pool the skills in remote sensing, computer science and applied mathematics present in the Aïda unit
  • Ensure better integration of these themes in the unit's research projects.
  • To meet the needs of teams on research work that involves questions related to remote sensing, computer science and applied mathematics.

Overview of activities:

Within the transversal axis:

  • Pooling and capitalizing on each other's methods, tools, experience and knowledge.
  • Documenting scripts, computer solutions and programming techniques (replicable science)
  • Collectively valorise the results of the TIM axis (publications in congresses or specialised journals).
  • Share events, calls for projects, job profiles related to the themes of the TIM axis.

Externally:

  • Promote good data management practices (DMP, Dataverse, Data Paper, Data Life Cycle)
  • Make available free methods and tools (Open Science)
  • Systematize the automation of researchers' tasks
  • Organize scientific and technical activities for the public as part of the Aida Thursdays.
  • To set up and carry out individual and collective training courses, seminars or thematic workshops.

Animation tools:

  • The transversal axis could be consulted through the generic address tim_aida@cirad.fr.
  • The collective of TIM axis meets once a month to exchange on the various projects in progress.
