Ecole doctorale

Wageningen (WUR)

Objectives

Modélisation des flux de biomasse à différentes échelles (parcelle, ferme, paysage) dans la région Sahélienne du Burkina Faso.

Location

Burkina Faso, Sahelian region

Description

The objective of the PhD is to explore options that could potentially improve biomass production at farm and village scale in the semi-arid zone of Burkina-Faso, considering the socio-economic context as well as the biophysical environment.

Specific objectives are:

  1. to explore the farm diversity in terms of resource endowment and production goals and the associated potential impacts on biomass management,
  2. to analyze the spatiotemporal dynamics of biomass fluxes at farm and village scale,
  3. to explore biomass fluxes at farm and village scale based on household's decision-making and interactions, farm diversity and land allocation and
  4. to explore and co-design with farmers promising management options at farm and village scale to sustainably increase biomass production.
